UEFA has punished Wisla for irregularities revealed during the match against Twente Enschede. Wisla will have to pay 20,000 euro for thirty flares fired by the supporters as well as blocked emergency ways on two stands.
Wisla Krakow players gave a good performance in their first match of the Atlantic Cup tournament in Portugal. Yesterday Wisla defeated the current champion of Sweden, Helsingborg IF 2:0 through goals by two Israeli players, Maor Melikson and Dudu Biton respectively. Wisla dominated through the entire match but lacked precision grossly which was clearly seen in Andraz Kirm's actions in front of the Swedish goal. Contrary to the test matches in Spain, Kazimierz Moskal, Wisla coach, let the starting eleven play more than 45 minutes.
Wisla captain, Radoslaw Sobolewski, will have to undergo a minor surgery instead of flying to Portugal to get ready for the spring round. The Achilles heel has been haunting Sobolewski for a few months and made him unable to train and play. Wisla official site informs he will be operated on within days.
Rafal Boguski will not join his mates at the second preparation camp in Portugal. He has had some problems with his calf muscles, and the injury turns out to be too painful for the player to train. The muscles already prevented Boguski from performing against FC St. Pauli last week in Spain.
Wisla’s first pre-season preparation camp in Spanish Oliva was sealed with yesterday’s match against FC St.Pauli. The tie finished with a 2:2 draw. The German side led until the 90th minute when Marko Jovanović levelled the score. As in the previous control match, Kazimierz Moskal lined up two different elevens in every half. Only Milan Jovanić and Andraż Kirm (absent against Eintracht) played the entire match. Moskal rested four players (Biton, Boguski, Lamey and Sobolewski) who did not feel well enough to perform.
The very first test match during the pre-season preparation camp in Spanish Oliva finished with a loss. Wisla were defeated by a German second league team, Eintracht Braunschweig. Wisla lost two goals – scored by Deniz Dogan and Benjamin Fuchs (free kick). Wisla coach, Kazimierz Moskal decided to use all the players he had at his disposal, including two youngsters - Michał Szewczyk and Alan Uryga. According to Gazeta Krakowska journalists, the plane to Alicante, with Wisla on board, was hit by a thunder! The pilot was forced to an emergency landing at Bergamo Airport in Italy to make it possible for the travellers to change the plane and continue their journey.
Cleber's son, Lucas Guedes, has played football on Wisla grounds for a few years. The teenager has been voted the best player of numerous tournaments. He has turned out to be so talented that he attracts the attention of junior national teams coaches although he does not have a Polish passport yet.
Wisla Krakow have decided to prolong the contract with Sergei Pareiko, the Estonian goalkeeper. Sergei confirms he would like to represent Wisla colours next season. - At the end of December 2011 Stan Valckx phoned me to inform they intended to offer me a new contract [the old one expired in June 2012]. During yesterday's training session Filip Kurto, a young Wisla goalkeeper, got injured which ruled him out of the preparation camp in Spain.
